Marianne Giordani, born April 14, 1953 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, eldest daughter of Armondo Giordani and Bordina Panone, unexpectedly passed away in New York City on November 2, 2021, joining in Heaven her beloved parents and grandparents. Marianne’s family and friends are devastated by her loss and ask for God’s love and comfort.
Marianne was a dedicated and beloved professor of English at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Columbia University. Although she never served, Marianne shared a special bond with military veterans at both institutions and was humbled to be welcomed into their community.
As a graduate of Dominican High School in Detroit, Michigan, Marianne excelled in both painting and writing. She attended undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago and Hunter College, receiving a PhD at The Graduate Center CUNY.
Marianne is survived by her devoted partner George Green, siblings Pauline, William, Roseanne and Lisa Marie Giordani, nieces Angela and Madelyn, nephew David, and goddaughter Michelle.
