With profound sadness and immeasurable love, we announce the passing of Shukuko Sakuma-McDermott, who peacefully departed this life on July 19, 2026, at the age of 92.Shukuko was a woman of extraordinary strength, unwavering love, and fierce devotion to her family. She was the kind of mother and grandmother who made everyone feel protected, welcomed, and deeply cared for. Though gentle in her kindness, she possessed a remarkable resilience and determination that carried her through life’s joys and challenges alike.

Her smile could brighten any room, and her greatest happiness came from seeing those she loved happy. She gave selflessly, loved wholeheartedly, and never hesitated to stand up for the people she cherished. Her warmth, wisdom, and steadfast presence created a foundation for generations of her family, and her legacy will continue to live on through the lives she touched.

She is lovingly survived by her sons, Daniel, George, Victor, Jose, and Michael, along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in imagining her now walking peacefully in God’s eternal light with the same bright smile, spirited stride, and loving heart that defined her life. She will be missed beyond words, remembered always, and loved forever.

Viewing will take place on Friday July 24th 2026 from 2-8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday July 25th at St. Brigid Church at 9:30am. Private Cremation to follow.
